A college at the forefront
The college Voltaire in Remoulins, which has just over 600 pupils, embarked on a reconstruction project in January 2022, starting with the teaching buildings, administrative premises and school canteen. By the end of 2022, the new sports facilities and Documentation and Information Centre will be completed.
This project is part of an overall environmental approach, with the school having chosen bio-sourced materials (stone, wood...) and wishing not only to ensure that the standards inherent in the construction of new buildings are perfectly respected, but also that the regulations in force concerning the sorting of bio-waste generated by its school restaurant are applied in accordance with them, in order to create a virtuous circuit enabling the recycling of waste.
The company BONNET THIRODE Grande Cuisine, a manufacturer, installer, designer and maintainer of large-scale kitchen equipment, was entrusted with this challenge and chose to place its trust in VALIDEX, a company with thirty years' experience in food waste processing.
So we came up with a product that met the needs of the college and ensured its compliance with ever more stringent environmental requirements: BIODEC+, the new generation of the BIODEC range.
BIODEC+ is an integrated, easy-to-use, robust and cost-effective solution for:
- Collect biowaste directly where it is produced: in this case the self-service restaurant (see photo) and the waste room for leftovers from the gastro bins, i.e. two collection points providing the school with a global solution for 100% of its food waste.
- Pre-treat them with fine, controlled grinding
- Transport them without human intervention to a 3000-litre storage tank
- Store in optimal hygienic conditions before recovery by pump truck
Satisfied with its smooth operation, the head chef at Voltaire secondary school, Madame MONBEL, gave us her feedback after several months of use: “We're delighted with our BIODEC+! It saves us an enormous amount of time, and significantly improves working conditions for our staff: we no longer use garbage can containers, so there's less need to move around, and we can maintain optimum hygiene conditions. It's quite an evolution that we approve of 100%!
