Viaro College in Barcelona
Context
Viaró Global School is a private school and middle school located in Barcelona.
The establishment has three restaurants: one for schoolchildren, one for middle school students and one for teachers.
Issues
- A cramped wash-up area due to the configuration of the building
- Staff providing table service in the teachers' restaurant have to cross an area where the drop-off of trays blocks the path between the restaurant and the kitchen
- A single dishwasher
- Different cadences between the different catering areas
- The risk that the conveyor coming from the middle school restaurant and passes into the teachers' restaurant is full and does not allow the drop-off of trays
Designing the solution
- A set of conveyors with different speed zones
- A system allowing one sorting line for two drop-off conveyors with automatic “first in - first out” priority management, combined with our drawbridge system to optimize movement in the wash-up area. This drawbridge system feature a gas-assisted cylinder for safety and ergonomics; the motorization is not interrupted on this element.
